Unexpected Doctor's visit

When we woke up this morning Karlie was VERY congested so I decided to take her to the doctor. We have been battling this for a few weeks now and have tried everything. She had a little congestion so they gave us an antibiotic and sent us on our way. It's a good thing because we have SOOOOOOO much to do today!

Sh anda needed a sitter for today because Karlie's sitter(Ms. Mona) was out of town, so Rowyn and I jumped at the chance. We had lots of fun.

When i would look around the camera and talk to her, she would smile...

and then would put my eye back to the camera and i would get this...

Then we played in the floor together...

Then we had some tummy time...

and we kicked back and chilled...she looks like she needs a stiff scotch in her left hand, doesnt she?

then we sat in the boppy(well 2 boppys) and played with Rowyn some more...

Easter Sunday

I've always spent Easter Sunday with the Jackson's, this year was no different. For a long time Amanda was the youngest grandkid at the house because the youngest ones live in Florida. When Kaden came along he was the only kid, a few years later came Cooper and Tayler joined the family. This year we added Kolten and Karlie. It seems like there are a lot of kids now and it's so much fun!

This is the Easter basket that the Easter Bunny left for Karlie. It had stuffed puppies just like her real puppies Gus and Duke and some dresses. No candy because she just can't eat it yet!

We started off early this morning going to see Kyle's mom, Doc and his brother's family at their church. They have a puppet show, Easter egg hunt and lunch the day before Easter every year. We got Karlie all dressed up in her Easter dress and off we went. For some reason I only got one picture, but it's a good one!

On our second attempt we made it to the Arboretum. It was a little cold at first, but it warmed up when we got out in the sun. Karlie and I went with our friends, Megan, Rowyn, Janet, Sarah, Stacia, Lexi and Colby. We had a great time taking pictures and at lunch. Thanks for inviting us to go with yall!

Going to see the Easter Bunny

We took Karlie to see the Easter Bunny tonight. I think she's still to little to be scared. These are the pictures I snapped at the house and waiting in line.

Ok, Karlie is the little girl who smiles huge when you talk to her or play with her, but the minute you pick up the camera this stoic look comes over her face! One day we will capture the big smiles on camera.

NASCAR Race

Kyle and I went to the Nascar race today. We had a lot of fun as always, but the race was a little boring this year. I love to go just to sight see. My guy (Kasey Kahne) did not have a good day, but I cheered on Jeff Gordon when he won. Texas Motor Speedway is one of only two tracks that he had never won at and today he did it!

Disney on Ice

A few months ago Karlie got an e-mail from her papa asking if she would like to go with him to Disney on Ice. He even asked that she bring Kaden and Cooper with her. Kyle's dad wanted to do something for the kids so he reserved a suite at the AAC and got tickets for himself, Denise, McKenzie, Karlie, Kyle, me, Laura, Keith, Morgan, Grace, my mom & dad, Tracie, Bryan, Kade, Cooper, and Christopher & Danielle (Laura's neice and nephew). We had such a good time seeing the expressions on the kids faces. Karlie was a little to young to understand, but the others loved it!

At Karlie's 4 month checkup the doctor said I could wait until six months to start baby food or I could go ahead and start giving it to her. I decided I wanted to try it out and see how it went. This is the reaction I got...

I can't decide if this is a Clark, Carpenter, Jackson or Crocker fit! She was not happy about it. She was spitting it out at me and screaming! Needless to say, she's not ready just yet. We will put it away and try again next month! Sorry Karlie!

Kami's Wedding

My cousin Kami got married tonight so we decided to leave Karlie with a sitter and have a night to ourselves. My aunts weren't to happy about that, but oh well! 4 Month Check-Up

Karlie is officially 4 months old today so I took her to get her second round of shots. NO FUN! Kyle and I like to guess how much she weighs each time and are always interested to see how long she will be. She is VERY short still, but I'm her mom so she will probably always be "petite." Today she weighed 14 lbs. 6 oz.(75% percentile) and was 15 3/4 inches long (45% percentile). She only cried a little during the shots, but she was fine after she got her Binky. Here are some pictures I took later that night. Kyle LOVED the band aids they gave her.

A day at the Arboretum or is that White Rock Lake...

Tracie and I have been planning to go to the Arboretum for weeks. We decided that we would pack a picnic and take our cameras and get lots of pictures of the kids with the flowers. I invited Megan and Mom and Joey were in too! We got up early packed up lunch and the kids and were off. When we got there the parking lot was closed because it was full, but there was overflow parking and a shuttle a mile or two down the road. We decided to go check it out. When we rounded the corner, the line was about a mile long of people waiting to get on the bus to go to the Arboretum. What a mess! After a little disappointment, we decided to take our picnic to White Rock Lake instead. There were no pretty flowers, but we still had a good time. Happy St. Patrick's Day

I have been off all week for Spring Break, which has been a lot of fun. Today we spent the day at Aunt Mary's working on Karlie's scrapbook that I'm way behind on. Tracie and the boys were also there working on her side project. I tried to get a picture of all three kids in their St. Patty's outfits that Meme bought them, but Cooper would not cooperate.

I was able to get a few of Kaden and Karlie. He is such a good big cousin.
Later that night we all went to Primo's in Rowlett for $2 margaritas...yum! Dinner was a lot of fun because we were all able to visit and hang out for a few drinks. Thanks again Aunt Mary for taking Karlie to the bathroom for the stinky diaper change.

Watch me jump...

Santa Clause brought Karlie this neat little jumper/activity center for Christmas. I couldn't wait for her to be big enough to put it together and get her jumping. Today was the day! I spent an hour putting it together and then lowered it as low as it would go (she is my child-short you know), and put Karlie in it. Here's what I got!

I had to put a box under her because she was still way to short. She just sat there! At one point she actually tried to stand up and it bounced her forwards and backwards a few times. It scared me to death and I immediately pulled her out! I'm sure she will love it when she is big enough to reach the toys and the floor.

Kyle and I have been talking for some time about needing to get out and walk more. The weather was nice this evening so we decided to take Karlie, Gus and Duke for a walk. I didn't get any pictures of the boys because they were too busy pulling Kyle along. Here are the few pictures I did get...

At one point we passed a couple of people who were walking there dog and the lady said, "Hurry, those dogs are going to get loose!" Yes, that would be my crazy dogs! But I love them the same. They are not harmless, unless you consider knocking you down with excitement harm!

Kaden's First Soccer Game

Kaden's first soccer game was so much fun! It was hysterical to watch four and five year olds run around and kick a soccer ball. They were falling all over each other and kicking goals the wrong way. Kaden had a blast!

Friday night with Cooper

Tracie and Bryan both had basketball games Friday night so Tracie asked if I would watch Coop until she got home. It is very entertaining to watch Cooper! Kyle and I took Karlie and Cooper to Toys R Us to buy a birthday present. Of course we walked out with toys for Cooper and Kaden too! Then we got dinner and brought it home. Afterwards I gave Karlie and Coop a bath in out bath tub. That was a lot of fun. I've never bathed both of them like that before. Here's the picture I took.

3 Months Old

Karlie is three months old already! The time is flying by. We have had so much fun with her over the last three months! She is "talking" and smiling so much these days. We just love it! She's also getting closer and closer to sleeping through the night. We usually lay her down about 9 and she gets up around 5 or 5:30. If she wakes up in the middle of the night we just give her the binky and she goes right back down. Here are some pictures Kyle and I took this morning. We can't believe how much she has grown in the last few months.
She's a lot less cooperative than she was at 1 month when we took these pictures.

And she was too big to lay on the top of her bucket. We had to put her Bumbo inside of the bucket and it didn't fit quiet right. Maybe next month she will be able to sit up without it a little better.

Valentine's Day

When I was young I used to go to the Autorama every year with my parents. As I got older I would go with my dad. One of the few times Kyle was around my dad was when we went to the Autorama to hang out with him for his birthday. My dad died about 5 years ago, but we still go to the Autorama every year. The last two years my dad (yes I have two) has entered his race cars in the show. So now we go to see him and his racecars. This was Karlie's first show, but I think she enjoyed it.

It was really funny to see Kyle get in and out of the car.

At Karlie's 2 month check up Dr. Straughn told us to go ahead and put Karlie in her bed room in her crib. We were a little nervous at first, but we have a movement monitor and a video monitor and we knew she would be safe! She cried a little at first, but after I went in and calmed her down she was fine and went right to sleep! Yeah Karlie! Enjoy your own bedroom and big girl bed. She looks so tiny in the bed.

Two Month Check-Up

Today was Karlie's two month check up and her first round of shots. NOT FUN! Karlie weighs 10 pounds 8 ounces (45th percentile) and she is 20 1/2 inches long (4th percentile). She did a good job with the shots. The nurse was really fast!

My First Day at Mrs. Mona's

Karlie started day care today about Mrs. Mona's. I cried when it was time to leave, but as you can see Karlie was not phased! It made me feel a lot better that Mona was crying too. She is so good with the kids and I know Karlie is in great hands. Here's a picture of Karlie in her rocker seat when we left.

Dinner with Friends

Tonight we went to Outback Steakhouse with our friends Chris, Megan and Rowyn Sommer and Eric, Jessica, and Rileigh McBain. Jessica made the comment that we had a baby from each age range. Karlie's a newborn, Rowyn is 6 months and Rileigh turned one on New Year's Eve.

Christmas Day Redo a/k/a New Year's Eve

We decided to celebrate Christmas with Tracie's family on New Year's Eve. The kids were excited because it meant they got to open more presents. Enjoy the pictures.

Denise got this outfit for Karlie. I love it!

Nana sat at the little kids table so that they would sit there with her and save room at the big table for the adults. This is what happened...

Kolten kept trying to put the horn in his mouth and Kerrie kept taking it out. It was a battle!

Believe it or not, all of the kids were up at midnight! Karlie and Kolten had been sleeping. Karlie got up to eat and Kolten was getting ready to leave. Kaden and Cooper didn't go to sleep until they got home! It was a very low key New Year's Eve, but it was nice to hang out with my family! I love yall! Thanks for all of the great Christmas presents!

Aunt Trac's Cheer Nationals

Tracie's Varsity Cheerleaders won state back in November for the Game day Division and went to Nationals. Mom, Aunt Mary and I took Karlie to see Aunt Trac and the cheerleaders compete. One of Tracie's cheerleaders and her mom bought Karlie this cute bow and I made the onesie. Thanks Amy and Hailie for the cute bow!

Tracie's girls finished 3rd for the day in the Performance Division and 8th for the day in the Game Day. They did an awesome job and are extremely talented girls! I look forward to seeing what each of them go on to do in the future. Congratulations girls!

Christmas Day

Christmas day was a little different this year. We always spend Christmas day with my family, this year Tracie's whole family got a stomach virus and weren't able to join us. There were lots of tears shed, but we made the best of it.

Christmas morning Mom and Dad came over and watched Kyle and I open Karlie's presents. It's kind of funny, I wrapped every present and then turned around and unwrapped it!

After we opened presents at our house we went to Tracie and Bryan's to deliver Bryan's Christmas present. We stayed outside because we did not want to get the virus they had.

Daddy Shower

Mom, Aunt Mary and Tracie decided to throw Kyle a "Daddy" shower for Kyle and the grandpas, uncles and cousins. They ordered pizza and wings and had chips & dips for them to snack on while they watched to Cowboy game. Kyle complained some, but this morning the only thing I heard was how it was "his day" and he shouldn't have to do anything! I think they all had a good time just hanging out even though the Cowboys lost! I took a few pictures before I left and asked Kyle to take more when everyone arrived, that never happened. Bathtime with the boys

We went to Uncle Bryan and Aunt Trac's house to watch football tonight. When it was time for the boys bath Aunt Trac said to bring Karlie up and we could dunk her in with them and bath her at the same time. Maybe when she gets a little bigger she will actually enjoy taking a bath with her cousins!

Visit from Kolten and Aunt Lala

Two Week Check Up

I didn't take pictures at this visit but here are her stats. She weighs 5 pounds 13 ounces (5th percentile), 19 inches long (25th percentile), head circumference is 12 3/4 inches (10th percentile). She's definitely on the small end of the scale but I'm sure she will catch up soon! She also had her heel pricked for a second time and got one shot in the leg. They cannot give her a whooping cough shot until she is two months old so they gave one to Kyle and I. Dr. Straughn said that parents and older children can be carriers of it and we needed it to protect her. I cried like a baby. I have not gotten over my fear of needles. I hope that's a trait I don't pass down to Karlie! He said she looked really good and to keep up the good work. We don't go back until her two month checkup on 1/20/09.

This is the diaper bag Neece bought Kyle so that he can still be a manly when she is with him. Isn't it cute! She's so tiny she fits right in the front pocket.

Dinner from the Sommer Family

Our friend, Megan Sommer, texted me this afternoon and asked if she could bring us dinner. Of course I said yes! It was VERY much appreciated! I was still not ready to jump up and cook a meal. First Doctors Visit

Because Karlie was a month early we had to go in two days after she came home to have her jaundice level and weight checked. On the day Karlie was born she weighed 5 pounds and 15 ounces. The day we left the hospital she weighed 5 pounds 12 ounces. When we got to the doctors office they had us undress her so that they could weigh her. She weighed 5 pounds 3 ounces, so tiny! She checked out great every where else.

I really like her pediatrician, Dr. Straughn. We decided to use him because all three of my nephews go to him and they really like him. He and his staff are all very nice and professional. Dr. Straughn does not rush us, he takes his time and sits down to visit with us and answer ALL of our many questions.

Because she had lost so much weight they want us to bring her back on Friday to check her weight. They want her to start gaining weight from here on out and hopefully she will be back at her birth weight by her two week visit.

Sunday, Our fist full day home

Everyone kept telling us how bad the first night home was, but for some reason I didn't think it was that bad. She was up every two or two and half hours the first night which wasn't so bad because I was able to get some sleep. I got up with her the first few times and Kyle got up with her at 5 so that I could sleep some too!
The next morning Papa (my dad) came over to see her before he went to the shop. He told her he had been looking for just the right present for his "Sugar Doll" and he had finally found it. He got her the cutest jewelry box that says, "LOVE" on the top.

She laid on Papa's lap the entire time just as relaxed as she could be!

Kyle's mom, MaMaw, and her boyfriend, Papa Doc, and his brother, Keith, and his family came to visit us on Sunday and brought lunch.

Coming Home

Saturday we headed home as soon as we were checked out by the pediatrician and my OB. Here we are dressed and ready to go!

The nurse came in and cut all of our bands off so that we could leave.

Then they made sure we knew how to load her in the carseat and off we went.

As you can see she is not crazy about the carseat!

Nana and Aunt Trac were at our house cleaning and cooking getting the house ready for us! When we got home we were greeted by Nana, Aunt Trac, Uncle Bryan, Kaden and Cooper.

Uncle Bryan is pretty crazy about her too! Tracie calls him the baby hog. He says he does not want another one, but don't you think he looks good holding a little one in pink?

At one point we were all back in Karlie's room putting away her stuff when Kaden ran in and said, "Cooper is in Gus' bed!" I went into my room and this is what I saw...

And he refused to come out! I finally had to leave the room and he followed me. I instantly ran back into the room and locked the gates. He was a little upset with me, but I think his mom was more upset that he was covered in dog hair! You have to keep a close eye on Coop!

My husband convinced me that we should go to my sister's house that night to watch the OU/Texas Tech game. So we loaded our 3 day old up and off to the O'Neal house we went for some football.

We spent most of the night convincing Justin to hold her and he finally gave in! Summer and Justin don't you think your ready for a little one like her?!?!?

Karlie's Second Day of Visitors

On Friday Daddy had to get up early and go to a meeting so it was just Karlie and me hanging out for a little while alone. Dr. Straughn (her pediatrician) came in before they brought Karlie to me to introduce himself and let me know she was doing great. Then Karlie and I hung out until Aunt Trac came to see us.

Then our good friend (and the nurse that we REALLY wanted to help deliver Karlie), Amy Thomas, came up to visit us. She said immediately that she looked just like her daddy! I did not get a picture of her with Karlie, sorry Amy! Next, my sorority big sis Dena and her son Hudson came to visit. I did not get a picture of them either. I guess I just wasn't awake yet! Thanks for coming to visit us Dena and Hudson! Nana came up at lunch to see us too! We had a day full of people coming in and out to take pictures and check her hearing. Here's some pictures of her hearing test.

My sister, Kerrie, and her family came back up to see us too. This time they brought Tayler, my niece. For some reason I didn't get a picture of her and Karlie either. But my nephew, Kolten, made a new friend. This is Kyle's dad, Tom.

After everyone left Daddy took some time to hang out with Karlie to eat and take a little cat nap.

Karlie's First Day

We finally made it up to the room at about 4:00 and Karlie was still in the admissions nursery getting checked out. The nurses came in every 30 minues the first hour and a half to check on me. We finally went to sleep at about 5:30 and the pediatrician was there to talk to us at 7 a.m. We were so excited to see her that we didn't care. Here's a picture of the first bottle we gave her and the first poopie diaper that daddy changed. As you can see I am still in the hospital gown because I had to do a few things for the nurse before I could shower.

Later that night...

When I got home and posted on 11/19 I was feeling good and ready to go back to work the next day! Karlie had a different plan in mind. At about 6:30 that night I had an "accident" which isn't uncommon for pregnant women when they cough or sneeze. I cleaned myself up and laid down on the couch. Kyle called (he was still at work) and I told him I just didn't feel right. He told me he would be home soon. In the mean time my sister, Tracie, called to ask me a question so I started questioning her about what my water breaking would look and feel like. While we were talking my back started hurting. She told me to take some Tylenol and go lay down. As we were talking and I was getting the Tylenol I had another "accident." Tracie told me that it was probably Braxton Hicks because I was examined earlier that day and it was no big deal. She said to lay down and she would check in with me later. By this time my back was hurting pretty bad so I went to take a warm bath. After the bath I laid back down on the couch and decided to call me mom. By this time it was almost 7:30. She told me the same thing, it was probably Braxton Hicks. While we were talking Kyle came in from work. Mom said to call her back at 9 if I was still in pain. Kyle was still very concerned because he could see that every 5 minutes I was in a lot of pain. We decided to call Amy Thomas, a friend that is a labor and delivery nurse. At first she said that it was probably Braxton Hicks and that it should go away soon. When I told her about my doctor's appointment earlier that day she was a little concerned. She said, "If your still hurting in 20 minutes call me back." I was still hurting so she said, "Your in labor, go to the hospital." Mom and Tracie came over and helped Kyle finish packing my bags. While at the house they still thought it was Braxton Hicks and that they would be sending us home. Me, Kyle and mom got in the Tahoe and Tracie followed us there. When we got in the car mom could see I was in a lot of pain every 3 minutes. She told Kyle, "We need to get to the hospital as fast and as safely as possible." I think it was the LONGEST car ride of my life!

At about 9:30 we arrived at the hospital. Kyle went straight in and looked for a wheelchair and I went to the registration desk stopping to cuss and scream along the way. When I sat down I could barely give the lady my social security number I was hurting so bad. She called for a wheelchair and Kyle stayed behind to sign all of the paperwork. We skipped triage and went straight to the labor and delivery room. They had me get undressed and get into a hospital gown, which I couldn't do alone. The nurse examined me and said I was dilated to a 6 or 7! Mom told Kyle to call his parents because Karlie was on her way. Everyone started making their way to the hospital! At this point I was screaming for the epidural! There were 4 or 5 nurses in the room all asking the same questions two minutes apart. I was VERY irritated and only wanted to talk to the nurse who was going to bring the epidural! The nurse who helped me deliver Karlie was great. Her name was Mary and she helped me breath through all of the contractions and held me while I got the epidural. Everyone had to leave the room while I got the epidural and I was very nervous! Here they are waiting for me...

After I got the epidural I was in a much better mood and apologized to all of the nurses. Since I was scheduled to go back to work the next day I had to call my principal and let him know I would not be there. I think he was a little surprised...

At about 11:15 the doctor came in and checked me and said I was dilated to a 9 and it was time to start pushing. They did such a good job with the epidural that I could not feel the contractions or the pressure of Karlie. The nurse would have to hand me my right leg and Kyle would lift my left leg and my head and that's how we pushed for about an hour. Then the doctor had them turn the epidural off so that I could push with the pressure or contractions. At that point we were on a roll...

At 1:04 Karlie decided to make her entrance! Here she is...

Because she was 4 weeks early the NICU nurses were standing by to check her out before we could hold her...

She had a HUGE conehead! When she was born she was 18 1/4 inches long and on the following Monday she was 17 3/4 inches long. Her had has finally rounded out!
She was great so they passed her off to us.

She was a very bruised and had a swollen eye at delivery. They think it was from me pushing for two hours and because she did not have a lot of room to move inside of me.

After everyone came in and met our new little one they took her upstairs to check her out and give her a bath. Nana and Aunt Trac hung around and took pictures because we had to stay in the delivery room for a few hours while they took out the epidural and IV and took blood and all of the fun stuff that goes along with that!

Update 11/19/08

I went back to the doctor today. Some of the swelling has gone down. I lost four pounds of fluid since Monday! My bp was good. She is going to let me go back to work tomorrow. If my tests results come back abnormal then I'm on bed rest for good. If they are normal we are going to go week to week looking at my bp and swelling. She did an exam while I was there. I'm dilated to a 1 and my cervix is thinned. Yeah! She said ideally she would like to see someone like me deliver at 38 weeks which would be about December 7th. Dr. Perugini was VERY glad to see that I have already started dilating. I have a sono on Friday to see how big Karlie is and if she is still head down. I'll keep you posted!

11/17/08 Update

Hello everyone! Just wanted to let you know I'm officially on bed rest at least for two days. I had a lot of swelling in my feet/calves/knees this weekend. I spent most of the weekend on the couch with my feet up. This morning I was still pretty swollen and my legs felt bruised so I called the OB nurse. My doctor was out today, but she got me in to see one of the other doctors in the practice. My blood pressure was good 126/72 so she wasn't too concerned. She is having me do ANOTHER 24 hour urine test (I just did one last Tuesday) to make sure everything is still ok. In the mean time I am on bed rest until I bring that test in on Wednesday and see Dr. Perugini. Dr. Freeman said my swelling was "impressive" and could be caused by the blood not being able to flow back up to my body because of the extra weight (Karlie) on the blood vessels at the top of my legs. I was a little stressed at first about work and missing too many days, but my assistant principal assured me they would work it out. We have MORE than enough math teachers on the campus that can step in and teach a lesson if need be. I will let you know if this is permanent or temporary! The other thing Dr. Freeman said is, "That's a big baby in there!" Let's hope not TOO big! I want to be able to deliver her! Keep us in your prayers! Love, Shanda

New Kids on the Block

What else is there to say? Call me a dork, but growing up I was LOVE with the NKOTB especially Joey! When I heard they were coming to Dallas I was so excited. I got tickets back in June and couldn't wait for October 19th to arrive. We planned a girls night out! We went to Manny's for dinner and drinks for the non-pregnant women. It was funny walking up to the concert seeing all of the 30 year old women just as excited as we were. There were plenty of pregnant women there too! Here's some pictures from the concert and yes, this is the shirt I wore at twelve years old. It's a youth large and still fit over my 8 month pregnant belly! What do you think?

Doctor's visits and Diabetes

Before we went to South Carolina I got a phone call from the doctor's office telling me that I had failed my glucose screening and needed to come in for a three hour diabetes test. I wasn't too concerned because I barely failed it. I needed to be at 140 after 1 hour and I was at 146. No big deal, right? WRONG! I failed two of the four blood screenings during the 3 hour test. I was very upset about this because I do not like needles. They said it would be controlled by diet, but that I would need to prick myself 5 times a day to test my blood sugar! No fun. This also meant more doctor's appointments. I had to meet with a dietician and now need sonograms once a month (basically two more than I would have had). The sonograms are the good part of this because I get to see how big she is getting. We will see how I do with this new diagnosis. Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention the week before we went to SC I was diagnosed with Carpel Tunnel Syndrome brought on by the excess fluid during pregnancy! SO MUCH FUN!?!?!? Can you hear the sarcasim? For that I can take Tylenol and wear and arm brace. I usually just wear it at night though.

Corey's Graduation from Army Basic Training

My brother, Corey, graduated from Basic Training from the Army on October 10th. I was able to make the trip with my mom and dad to Fort Jackson which is in Columbia, SC. It took us 16 hours to get there and 15 hours to get back! I think I traveled really well. My feet didn't swell and we only had to stop every two hours to walk around and go to the bathroom. It was really good to see Corey and I was relieved to see that he enjoyed basic training for the most part. I couldn't believe how much he ate while we were there with him. Actually I couldn't believe how many sweets and energy drinks he had while we were there! I think he had enough to keep him going for at least a week! Most of the ceremonies were held inside due to all of the rain! They didn't want us to park in the grass at the field where everything was supposed to happen. On Family day, which was the day before graduation, we had to go to an information meeting to find out all of the details for that day and graduation day. For Family day we had to remain on base the entire day and have Corey back at the Bay by 8:00. I apologize in advance for the quality of the some of the pictures. We were in a gym because of the weather. This is the Drill Sergeant in charge of all soldiers in the 1/34 Infantry.

After we received all the information we needed they walked us out a back door and ALL the way around to the front of the building. All of the soldiers were divided by platoon. Of course Corey is in Foxtrot which meant we had to go through Alpha, Bravo, and Delta before we could start looking for him. He actually came up behind us. Here is what we saw!

I got to laugh at his hair and he got to laugh at my big belly! From that point we were allowed to take him with us but we had to stay on the base. He wanted to go to the PX (Post Exchange) and see what he could buy! We actually found some really good deals. Mainly on perfume and alcohol! We found a 1.75 Liter of Crown Royal for $28! We couldn't buy it because Corey had to purchase everything and he isn't 21! That's ok, now we know for the future! After we spent about 2 hours shopping we drove around on base to see what we could do. First we went to the Fort Jackson Museum...
Next Corey showed us some of the stuff he did while in training. I can't remember what this is called...something Tower.

They do all kinds of climbing and repelling on it. Then Dad and Corey played Putt-Putt to kill some time before dinner. Dad won every time. Corey claimed he had never played.

Next we were off to Dinner at the NCO club. I hope all of Corey's meals weren't as bad as this one! GROSS! On the way there Kaden called to talk to his Unc. Right in the middle of their conversation they started taking down the flags on post for the day. Corey had to hang up on Kaden and salute.

After dinner we went to the bowling alley so that the boys could play some pool. I've never seen so many soldiers in one room!

Corey made sure we left there in plenty of time to get him back to his bay by 8:00. He did not want to be late! Friday was graduation and we left in plenty of time to get in and get a seat. When we got there we found out that because of the weather the graduations were going to be inside and broken down into two squads per graduation. Corey's was an hour and a half delay! We just kind of hung out and watched all of the soldiers march up to the building. That was really cool! This is the Army band that played.

After graduation we went out side and got to see Corey marching back to the bay doing cadences.

We got into the car and drove about two miles back to his bay, which is where they marched to. When we arrived we were able to go down and see the flags for Foxtrot and see where they do formation.

This is the orders for the day. I liked being able to see his schedule. I never would have believed Corey would get up at 5 am.

This is Corey's barracks. I think you can see him opening the door at the very top. The girls are on the first level. I couldn't believe they allow them to be that close to each other.

After Corey received his orders for the day we took him back to the hotel so that we could change. He had to stay in his Class B's all day. We grabbed some lunch at Chick-Fil-A and then we were off to the South Carolina State Fair. Corey enjoyed getting out, it was his first time off base in 10 weeks! He was a little surprised at all of the people who came up to shake his hand and thank him for serving our country. We were very proud of him. I had to keep a close eye on him because he kept eyeing all of the pretty girls! He reminded me so much of my dad. I can remember going places with my dad and he would ohh and ahh over the girls. I think the phrase I remember most was, "Damn Girl!" I think I heard that plenty while at the fair with Corey. I kept telling him that he sounded like Dad. Here are some pics from the fair.

I would have some pictures of the sky lift that we road, but I was too scared to take my hands off of the rail to take pictures. Corey thought it was very funny that I was so scared!

After the fair we went to Chili's (Corey's choice). I just knew he would want a steak for his first real meal! And then we headed back to the base so that he would be back by 8:00 for formation. We were allowed to go down and hang out with him for a little while. When his Drill Sergeant came down for formation he let the families stay and watch.

In this picture they were asking a TON of questions of the DI. He finally said, "Wake up will be at 3:00 a.m. By 3:30 all of your stuff must be downstairs ready to load." That used to be about the time Corey would go to sleep, if not later! I can't imagine him being up before that!

These are the last pictures I took before we said goodbye. You can tell because my eyes are red from crying!

It was a good trip and it was great to see Corey. He started AIT the Monday after we left and should graduate from that somewhere around December 18th. When he is finished he gets 14 days of leave. Hopefully Karlie will come before he makes it back so that he will be able to see her. I got the boys Army bears when we were at the PX. Here's Kaden with his.

Forney Baby Shower

I know, I'm horrible at keeping up with this! I'm going to try really hard this week to get caught up with all the posts.

On September 28, My sisters (Tracie, Kerrie and Chanda), my Mom and my Aunt Mary hosted a baby shower for me at the Reagin House in Forney. They did a great job with all of the food and decorations! This is a plaque my sister had made for Karlie's room. I saw this poem in Greune this Summer at a store and started crying. I told Tracie and Aunt Mary that I didn't care what else went in her room as long as I had that. So they found someone in Canton to make it for me. I LOVE IT!
Aunt Mary made this box and the cards that were blessings for Karlie. After the shower I sat down and read them all! They were very sweet and I got in a good cry reading them.

Decorating Her Room

Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to get it all in while I had the chance!

My mom, Aunt Mary, my sister and I have made a few trips to Canton to get just the right decorations for Karlie's room. It is VERY girly! I'm still missing a few things, like the valance, but here is a look at her room!

The clothes line above her bed is from Aunt Mary and the lamp shade is from Nana! We got the lamp shade first and Nana had to have it! It worked out perfect because it matched the crib sheet. The clothes line was perfect because it was the right colors and it had polka dots and stripes like her bedding! Thanks Nana and Aunt Mary for helping us make her room perfect! Here's a closer look at each one.

If you click on the link I think you can see this up close. It says, "I found my prince He's my Daddy" I love this and I think secretly Daddy does too!

The book shelf and baskets are a gift from Tom and Denise, Kyle's Dad and Step-Mom, a/k/a Papa & 'Nise! It is from Pottery Barn and I LOVE it! It matches perfect with her furniture and she will be able to use it for years to come! Here's a closer look...

I bought the letters from Pottery Barn also and Aunt Tracie worked hard putting the ribbon on them and hanging them up! That was a lot of work!

The hooks are behind her door so that Karlie can hang her jacket on when she comes in each day! The tool that is tied to one of them is from my Nephew Kaden. I bought he and Cooper a decoration for their bathroom and it was hanging by this tool. We thought it made it a little girly so they got some ribbon that matched the bathroom and gave Karlie the tool for her room! Isn't that sweet?

This is a bow holder that Aunt Tracie made for Karlie. She got the K and the crown in Canton and then added the ribbon. It is so cute and will look really good once we get all of her bows on it! Thanks Aunt Tracie!

Closet Unit

We finally got the closet unit ordered and put up last weekend. I love it! Kyle worked really hard putting it in. Here's Daddy working hard to put it together.

Rain = Mud in my carpet

It never fails, everytime Maria comes to clean the house it rains either that day or the next day! We end up covering the carpet with blankets to let Duke and Gus in at night. Duke LOVES to play in the rain and lay in the mud. Here are some pictures I took a few weeks ago after it had rained. I had to take them with the dogs in the kennels because Duke was too muddy to leave out for too long.

Everyone's hard at work on Karlie's room

Kyle started working on Karlie's closet a few weeks ago. One of his long time friends, Kevin Passons, ordered and hung her new doors for us.

The top picture is Kevin working hard. The second one is the doors hung and ready to be painted.

Next came taping off the room to be painted. That was I job that I could do without having to climb on too many ladders or hurt myself. Here I am...

Sunday Nana and Aunt Tracie came over for a long day of painting. They did most of the work so that the I didn't have to smell the paint for too long or climb on a ladder. They were a little upset that I took pictures of them while they were hard at work, but I reminded them they were for Karlie! We painted the bottom pink and the top, ceiling and closet tan.

Aunt Tracie even managed to get some on her!

Tonight Kyle hung the rest of the chair rail. There's still some touching up to do and the closet doors need another coat of paint, but here's a little sneak peek.

Hopefully this weekend we will put the finishing touches on it and get her bed and dresser up with all of the bedding.

Hopefully everyone can figure out this one on their own! It's of her bottom and legs. This is how we knew she was a girl! I actually knew told the doctor before she was able to tell us.

First Blog

This is my first time to blog and I have no idea what I am doing! Some of my friends have blogs that I keep up with and I'm also obsessed with Quad blogs. I know it's crazy, but I LOVE them! I think this is a good way for us to let family and friends know how we are doing and to keep everyone updated on my pregnancy and Karlie when she arrives.
